Early/Phase 1 Treatment
When should I schedule my child’s first orthodontic visit?
A child’s first orthodontic visit is best scheduled around age seven, even if no issues are obvious yet. At this age, many permanent teeth are starting to come in, and an orthodontist can evaluate how the teeth and jaws are developing.
An early visit doesn’t always mean treatment will start right away, but it gives parents peace of mind and allows the orthodontist to spot concerns—such as crowding, crossbites, or habits like thumb-sucking—before they become more complicated. By identifying potential issues early, families can plan ahead and ensure their child’s smile develops in the healthiest way possible.

Observation Appointments
After your initial consultation, if treatment is not needed at this time, we often schedule you for observation visits to monitor growth, development and eruptions so we are able to start orthodontic treatment if and when it is most appropriate for you.
